The world has hijacked the word born-again and changed its meaning from spiritual birth to include any enlightenment experience. If we break a habit, we’re born- again, or if we received understanding, we’re born again. By the world’s standards, it doesn’t take much to be born- again. However, Jesus made it clear to Nicodemus that one must be born of water (the human birth) and the Spirit (spiritual birth) (John 3:5,6). Unless we’re born of the Spirit, bringing life to our dead spirit, we’re not born-again, or rather, we’re not saved.
